Man Attacked Inside His Basement
A Lawrenceburg man sustained injury Wednesday night when he was attacked inside the basement of his own home.
Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were dispatched to the Granddaddy Road home around 9:30 p.m. When they arrived officers found the victim sitting on a chair in the living room, holding a shirt to cut on the back of his head.
The victim reported that he had heard a noise in the basement shortly before and went outside to investigate. He said he noticed that a small glass had been broken out of the basement door and it was standing open.
He told officers that he went inside and, "It was pitch dark in the room and when he walked in someone hit him in the back of the head with a blunt object." The victim reported that he was unable to see anyone.
Officers were given the name of a suspect and went to his home. They report that all persons inside the house were in bed sleeping and that all four cars were cold to the touch. They noted that they did not believe that the suspect named had been involved.
Investigation into the crime is continuing through the department's Criminal Investigation Division.
